Ritualize Your Practice – Spiritual Awakening (Part 3)

Hello Spiritual Warrior,

Let’s continue down our path towards Spiritual Awakening! I’m sharing this series with you once a month, to assist with this process of growing, expanding and continuing to awaken into a higher version of yourself!

Want to see the other videos in this series? Part I and Part II are available now, and I’ll continue to share more with you in upcoming months.

One question you may be pondering is about how we keep the momentum going – how do we continue to show up for our spiritual practice every day?

Willpower alone is not enough. What we need to do is ritualize our practice.

It needs to be on autopilot, just like so many of our other daily activities that we often do without thinking – everything from brushing our teeth to caring for our family, to driving to work.

If we add a meditation practice into this mix, we are planting the seeds to start the day with a beautiful aspect of stillness and silence.

I’ve got two ideas for you to try, as you begin trying to ritualize your practice – you can try both and see which ones resonates best for you:

  1. RPM: Rise, Pee, Meditate. Now I know this may sound a little funny, but it works! If we meditate first thing to start our day, then before we’ve touched any other aspect of our life – before anything has had a chance to come to us – while sleep is still in our eyes, we connect to the stillness and silence that rests within. And that adds a trajectory to our day of calmness and steadiness.
  2. Beditation – very effective. Stay as sleepy as possible, and slide up to the headboard to begin meditating. Keep that sleep-like state as you begin your meditation practice, and you will be deeply embedding the stillness and silence inside of you – before you even get out of bed in the morning!

One of my favorite teachings is from the ancient text The Bhagavad Gita.

Chapter 2, Verse 48 states yogastha kuru karmani, which means establish yourself in the present moment, and then perform action.

And this is the basis of our meditation practice: to first become still, and then move forward. We know that we live better if we establish that groundwork, if we plant that seed, before moving forward with anything.

A few other tips to remember as you begin the steps to ritualize your practice:

✅ Remember that comfort is queen! 👑 If you are not comfortable, you will not meditate! Plain and simple. Find what works for you, and then keep moving towards comfort.

✅ Start small: just 5-10 minutes is great to start. Eventually you’ll expand up to 30 minutes.

Remember that the only bad meditation is the one you don’t show up for! Be gentle and patient with yourself, listen to your body, and you’ll start to notice a shift.

I’d love to hear from you and see what you think about RPM and Beditation – which one works better for you?

Sending love,

davidji
