“Loneliness adds beauty to life. It puts a special burn on sunsets and makes night air smell better.”
Hello Spiritual Warriors! And welcome to the human race where it is natural to feel lonely sometimes. When it is a positive feeling we call it solitude… when we are suffering from being alone, we call it loneliness.
When you find yourself there, remember there are three aspects to moving beyond your loneliness:
1) Embracing & enjoying your solitude
2) Comforting yourself & easing your pain
3) Making the shift to connect with something bigger than yourself
First we need to embrace our emotion of feeling alone. There is nothing wrong with solitude, wanting to be by our self, or even enjoying being alone. Alone time can be helpful, beneficial, even enjoyable. If you are going to choose being alone, then do something amazing with it. Take advantage of this special moment and play big, learn something about yourself, or take the time to grow in your aloneness. Learn a new skill…work on your body, explore areas of life that you have neglected. Go to youtube and learn to play guitar, paint, draw, dance, take pictures, make movies, Go to grokker.com and start taking online yoga classes. Prepare the most amazing day for yourself as if you were to prepare it for someone else. Stretch outside your comfort zone…pick an activity you have been putting off or fearing. Take the bold step into your magnificence.
Remember that the darkness of loneliness cannot be fought directly. You have to give yourself permission to turn on the light through embracing your loneliness, comforting yourself, and forging connections with something bigger than yourself. And be gentle with the process. Bean by bean the bag gets filled!
