Hello Spiritual Warriors!!

What would you dare to dream if you knew you wouldn’t fail? Where would you take your life, if you had no fear or limitations?

What are we afraid of anyway? The most common fears are:

  • Fear of being alone
  • Fear of the unknown
  • Fear of looking like a fool
  • Fear of being “found out”
  • Fear of having no money
  • Fear of trying new things
  • Fear of not measuring up to new people
  • Fear of failing
  • Fear of succeeding

Every time a new offer appears in our life, our conditioning guides us to either block it or accept it. We all choose what will occur in our lives based on our resistance or open-ness to a given moment. In the unknown rests the fresh, the new, the expansion of our existence. When we unconsciously block the unknown by saying “no”, we resist the universe and constrict our potential.

While saying “yes” every time we are asked a favor, can lead to weak & porous boundaries, saying “yes” every time we are offered an opportunity can lead us to new dimensions – which can shift our life to new heights.

Try it this week. Simply make the commitment every day, to say “YES” when offered the opportunity to meet a new person, express our voice, try something new (as long as it isn’t hurtful to you or someone else), or test your abilities.

Start small. Begin by taking small steps: make a phone call you’ve been putting off, text someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, ask a question when you don’t really understand the situation, and prepare for magnificence to unfold in your life.

Use my 16 seconds to clarity breathing technique (inhale for 4 seconds; hold it in for 4 seconds; release it for 4 seconds; hold it out for 4 seconds) as soon as you find yourself saying no. Introducing this pattern interrupt will allow you to step into YES with greater grace and greater ease. Email me with your results to celebrate your YESes!!!

I’ll see you in the gap. Peace. -davidji

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Source!

There’s a whole bunch of stuff – things I’ve said, things I’ve thought, things I’ve done – that I hope I’ll be forgiven for. Sometimes, they even consume me. They fill my head and swirl around stinging every part of my body like a crazed mosquito.

And that has helped me see that I can be happier if I forgive others. Yes… when the emotional sting is fresh, it’s really hard. But as the hours, days, weeks separate us from the act that hurt us… some of the emotional charge slips away.

Then it’s time to be free! Time to let go of what doesn’t serve us. Time to acknowledge that what someone else has said in a given moment doesn’t define them. Just like you don’t want to be defined by every word or action you’ve said or done in a moment where you weren’t clear, impeccable or at your best.

[Tweet “I want to be given the benefit of the doubt; so how can I not do the same for others? davidji.com”]

And I want to be free of those ties. I want to be free to love, to celebrate, to laugh, and to have peace in my heart and peace in my mind. I want tranquility to ripple through my soul, but I can’t do that if I’m holding a grudge. When we don’t forgive, we flood our self with all the chemicals and hormones that we experience in fight-flight. Why would I want to do that to myself? Why would I want to attack my body and my brain with toxic emotional turbulence? Why would I want to hurt myself over and over when the damage has already been done? I wouldn’t. And you shouldn’t either!

This week, let’s forgive someone for something they said or did. This doesn’t mean they’re exonerated. This means they wont be hanging around in our head or in our heart. This doesn’t mean that what they said or did was right. This means we will no longer allow it to control us, wound us, or hurt us.

This week, let’s take the pledge of forgiveness. Let’s get off our platform of universal moralism and let’s learn from this experience. Let’s grow from this moment. Let’s transmute our pain into self-love. Let’s transform our hurt into healing. Let’s commit to happiness and begin the process of letting go. We can start simply by giving our self permission to loosen our grip on the other person’s words and actions.

[Tweet “When we forgive, we free ourselves from the ties that bind us to the one that hurt us davidji.com”]

Let’s ask for our own forgiveness for something we’ve done. And in that process, we will receive the unconditional love of the Universe.

In the meantime, keep meditating, keep dying to the past, AND keep forgiving!! First yourself, then someone else. Remember, we transform the world by transforming ourselves.

Peace. -davidji

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!

Tantra is intimacy… intimacy with yourself, intimacy with your environment, intimacy with others, and intimacy with the divine…with the universe… with god.

Tantra is meditation – stillness…silence…one-ness – the sacred precious moment. But in this kooky swirl of life we can lose sight of it and drift into the past and the future spending our attention on all the distractions of life and not on the sweetness.

This meditation is designed to give you 5, 10, 20 minutes of pure present moment – pure intimacy – a gentle safe pattern interrupt in the wild tsunami of life. Enjoy and see how tantra raises your vibration.

See you in the gap!!!! Peace. -d

You have become so overflowing with love, with compassion, and you want to share. It happens at the fourth center, the heart. That’s why even in the ordinary world people think love comes out of the heart. For them it is just hearsay, they have heard   it; they don’t know it because they have never reached to their heart. But the meditator finally reaches to the heart. —O s H O

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Source, in which we explore the Sacred Powers of Transformation through the chakras.

In the ancient wisdom traditions, the Sacred Powers of Transformation were located in seven distinct energy centers located in the physical body. Modern acupuncture and acupressure practitioners use these meridians as healing points, and according to the ancient wisdom traditions of the Sufis in Persia, the Hindus in India, and the Hopi Indians of North America, these energetic convergences were domains of transformation and manifestation.

Ancient India referred to these energy centers as chakras (translated as “turnings” or “wheels”), and it was believed that these seven wheels of energy were the junction points between our physical, mental, and spiritual worlds, such that all the energy of the Universe converged at seven vortexes within the human body.

I find that a chakra tuning right before bedtime can be relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. In Secrets of Meditation, I go into detail about chakras and their related colors.

Each chakra has a specific color associated with it, as well as a vibrational mantra that opens or tunes the energy flow in each of our energy centers. This tuning is similar to opening up additional lanes on a highway. When the traffic has broader bandwidth, it can flow more easily and quickly.

The world-renowned plant-spirit medicine healer, Karla Refoxo, spent many years living in Nepal exploring the origins of the ancient chakra practice. She worked with the indigenous people of Kathmandu to craft handmade chakra amulets that were then blessed by the living saint Mata and charged with healing energy. I am a fan (and wearer) of her powerfully charged amulets designed to awaken blocked energy in specific chakras.

Chakra meditation is powerful because it opens you up to a more universal flow at the level of your personal physiology, your emotional state, and your spiritual awareness. You can explore each of the seven main chakras in the book in a little more detail to set the foundation for the meditation. In the Vedic tradition, they start with the most earthbound and weighty and move upward to the more subtle, getting lighter and lighter until they reach the state of pure ether.

Also, many meditators have used Insight Timer, a free smartphone app and online community for meditation. And this month, in partnership with Insight Timer, I’ve launched a new online course Awaken the Power of Shakti

This course walks you through each chakra and is designed to simultaneously awaken your inner healer, cultivate your ability to manifest your dreams & desires & provide a beautiful platform for your meditation practice. As you continue through each lesson, you will experience the present moment in a new way. You will learn to cultivate your ability to connect with stillness & silence and your mind and body will begin to transform in really positive ways.

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!

This weekend, I thought I’d share with you my morning meditation practice. I’ve taught it, lived it and written about it in my book Sacred Powers. It helps me to set the perfect trajectory of my day, and I know that if you practice it, it will have the same impact on your life.

The mantra is om moksha ritam.

Enjoy!!!

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Source! Let’s dive deep into recovering from a setback.

Right after we experience a setback, the first thought that pops into our head is “NOoooooo!” And the second thought that usually follows is, “If I could just turn back the clock… if I could go back in time to the moment before this happened.”

Time travel has not yet been perfected but the concept of recovering through rejuvenation is real!

Rejuvenation comes from a combination of Latin words: re– to do it again; juvenis –young; and the suffix -ate – which means the equivalent of… essentially to make young again.

In today’s world, when we speak of rejuvenation, we are usually referring to the repair of the damage of a lifetime of physical and emotional aging, and the replacement of damaged tissues. But when we experience a setback, it is our emotional state, our stability, our resilience, our strength and our ability to rise again after being knocked down, that requires repair.

A setback challenges every aspect of our being – the physical, the emotional, the psychological, the spiritual, the entire journey of our life that’s taken us through all the different highs, lows, mountains, valleys, abysses, peaks, and winding roads of our life. And in that moment, we may believe that there is no way back to how things were before the experience turned our life upside down.

But there is a way back! A way back to clarity, to peace, to emotional freedom, and to that moment of truly believing that the best is yet to come. Here’s what recovering requires:

  • Surrender,
  • Patience,
  • Self-forgiveness,
  • Trust, and
  • Courage.

This week, we’ll address the first step in recovering: Surrender. We need to move beyond our denial and our resistance – and accept that this is what has happened and this is where we are. We must pick up the foot that is planted firmly in the past and let go of our clinging to the way we believed things would be. This is the most difficult when we’ve just experienced a loss – especially the loss of a dear soul in our life. The process of making peace with the loss may take months or even years as each of the physical threads that connected us to that BEing slowly unravel.

Time is the only healer, and what you do each day to honor that BEing determines the speed of your healing. Celebrating the life that is no longer, celebrating the love that once was, and celebrating the eternal aspects of the connection that can never be eroded over time.

Losing anything else suddenly seems petty compared to the loss of life; yet losing anything we once cherished – a moment… a friendship… financial security… our hair… or a piece of our material world… still carries with it the initial grief and the pain of the consequences of the moment. The pain of our loss is equal to the depth of our love for the thing that is no longer.

And, it is in that moment where our physical body experiences its vulnerability – a state of hyper-sensitivity – in which our throat, our heart, our belly, cry out in agony. And, whether we utter a sound or not, we truly feel the wrenching depth of our emotion like a knife digging into us.

The tenderness of our heart receives the experience and our mind responds in-kind. It’s racing with every past and potential possibility. Waves of fear and sadness ripple through every fiber of our being. The rawness of the moment rushes over us in saddening waves of hopelessness, guilt, disappointment, emptiness and blame. Our valiant attempts at instant reframing sputter in futility and then vanish as they meet with resistance imposed by the new reality. And, our grief slowly builds over time as if each day, we placed one boulder after another onto our chest.

Everything in existence goes through a cycle. We are most familiar with the cycle of birth, living and death. But, your grief has a cycle also. And, the depth of your pain is not fathomless – it will have a bottom. It will have a beginning and an end. Right now, it may appear a thousand miles long but it’s really only a few inches. Ultimately, you will get to the other side.

So, while you are in the abyss of pain, your best tools are self-kindness (be gentle with yourself!), self-love (recognizing you are divine), self-forgiveness (acknowledging you deserve another chance), and self-compassion (rooting for your suffering to end).

The path back to wholeness requires that you treat yourself lovingly. That you are patient – allowing the world to unfold before you as you gently unfold back into it. We have a tendency to either curl up in withdrawal or to immediately leap back in not honoring our tender feelings deep within. But, in order to soar again, we have to take some time to rejuvenate, dust our self off, and then take the next step back to our wholeness.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Here are six ways for you to begin the rejuvenation process:

  1. Meditate. Connect to your stillpoint; find comfort in your Stillness
  2. Spend time in nature. Soak in the world around you and you will awaken the Universe resting within in.
  3. Pamper yourself.  Be kind to yourself, take a bath, have a massage, get a special mani-pedi, eat some comfort food, forgive yourself for one thing you’ve been regretting, choose yourself and make a note of it when you do.
  4. Spend time in the present moment. Watch clouds, listen to music, garden, cook, run, work out.
  5. Express yourself with passion. Write in a journal, blog, make a video, cook a fabulous meal, sing, draw, exercise, create, paint or dance.
  6. Make a gratitude list. Every day write down all the things for which you are grateful.

Follow these six easy rejuvenation steps for the next week, and write your comments below to share your journey back to wholeness. Every day will get a little easier.

In the meantime, I’ll see you in the gap!

Peace. -davidji
