Hello Spiritual Warriors!!!! and welcome to another edition of The Source – the newsletter that translates ancient teachings into modern world practical application. This week we’re exploring Slowing Down the World around you.

You have the ability to control the speed and frequency at which life comes at you! Science is now proving that we can slow our brainwaves through destressifying techniques such as 16seconds, squeeze & release, 8 destressifications of the spine, body scans, chakra tuning, quiet continuous breathing, and by starting each day in stillness and silence.

By connecting to the present moment – whether through in-the-moment stress-busters or through a daily practice of meditation – our brain gains clarity, creativity, intuition, balance, and resilience.

Our brain’s typical default mechanism of non-stop activity and conditioned responses has been going on relentlessly since the moment we came out of the womb. It’s even revving pretty fast while we sleep.

[Tweet “Imagine if every thought, idea, appointment, and interaction appeared to you in slow motion? davidji.com”]

We are constantly engaged in activity – thinking, planning, remembering, pondering, longing, contemplating, walking, running, riding, talking, typing, DOing – very rarely is there space, peace, tranquility or calm. We move from activity to activity to activity and often, when there is a quiet moment, rather than embracing it… we text someone, take a picture of the moment, or talk about it and so the sweet present moment gets steamrolled again by activity.

Most people on the planet are waking up, burning through the day and then passing out as bedtime approaches. And they do this every day until they die.

For many high achievers, the speed of life is lightning fast; for others it’s relentless and overwhelming; but for those spending at least 30 minutes every day in stillness and silence, the world comes to them at the speed they select. Which means that even if you’re a “type A” personality from New York City BUT you meditate… the speed of the world around you will feel like it’s in slow motion!!

Imagine if every thought, idea, appointment, and interaction appeared to you in slow motion? And then you could choose the best option, and act IN REAL TIME!

Making the commitment to meditate every day is your path to that ability. And if you’re not sure where to start, try a few of my free meditations in the Meditation Room, climb aboard the 40 Days of Transformation where you can meditate with tens of thousands of meditators of every type for as long as you desire, or join me for my one of my life transforming immersions (these are not workshops – they are immersions – we are together each day for virtually every moment you are awake).

The speed of your life is yours to choose. Whether you are a business person, a big dreamer, the heart of your family, or an entrepreneur – meditation will change your life forever and once you get a taste of the world showing up for you in slow motion, you will never want to stop!

Remember to adopt your next pet!! Join me in the gap. And let’s transform the world by transforming ourselves!

Peace. -davidji

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!

This week has been a painful, trying time for a dear friend of mine. The past has suddenly thrust itself upon her sending her world into what feels like a tailspin. Her greatest fears… all the thoughts of what-ifs… keep swirling through her mind threatening to confine her to a space of fear and reactivity.

All that we are arises from our thoughts, with our thoughts we create the world. Meditation is that key. Each of us is holding onto something from our past that keeps us awake at night, and is standing in the way of deeper fulfillment or peace of mind. Healing is when we allow the universe’s natural process to gracefully unfold within us.

As we discussed her feelings, thoughts and fears, my friend confided in me that through this tumultuous process, she is finding comfort and greater clarity during her meditations with the 6 Steps Towards Healing and Making Peace with the Past. Each time we show up together here, or on Hay House Radio, or in meditation, or through practicing present moment awareness – we get one baby step closer to slowly peeling away automatic thoughts that are conditioned reactions to our past.

The 6 steps are:

1. Meditate. It all starts with our thoughts – as the Buddha said, “All that we are arises with our thoughts – with our thoughts we create the world.” Meditation is the key. It doesn’t stop thoughts as much as make us aware of them as they come into stillness and silence. This tills the soil of the fertile garden of our heart.

2. Set clear intentions.
Each day have the intention to let go of whatever you are clinging to – just a little bit more. And breathe into it and release it, reminding yourself that it’s a constricted feeling and it doesn’t serve you. When we feel less-than we long for something to fill our emptiness – money, power, sex, winning, being liked on Facebook or followed on Twitter. An easier and more authentic way for you to transcend the illusion of emptiness is to recognize the divine that rests within.
Right now… gently follow your breath in and out as you repeat:
I am precious,
I am special,
I am sacred,
I am light,
I am love,
I am the universe

3. See the divine in others – people you know intimately and people you meet. Every time you meet someone or think about someone perform a mini-Namaste exercise. Gaze into their eyes and silently say: I honor the light in you that is also in me, and I know we are one. See the light in everyone in your life – they are here for a reason. If you reject someone, can’t stand them, or are holding a grudge, see the light in them. Remind yourself that everyone is doing their best from their own level of consciousness. That means you too!

4. Forgive yourself and any role you play in your past.
We all have done things that in the moment or afterwards realized – this was not what I want or wanted to do. The wounds we created, the lies we’ve told big and little, the cheating, and rationalizing on small and great scales, and the massaging of the truth – these are universal traits!!! They happened so they are done, but we must forgive so that we can move on. Find one thing every day to forgive yourself & the other person for. Simply forgive and let it go.

5.
Commit to making better choices as you move forward. This is core. You must make an agreement with yourself that if you knew then what you know now, you would make a better choice – a higher choice. Life is not a competition for likes on Facebook or how many people smile at you. It’s about how many people you smile at and how much love you put out there – true love, unconditional love. So make a commitment to be better, do better, and make a wiser choice in the next moment.

6. Let go … let god.
Essentially, begin to trust the universe. Embrace uncertainty embrace the unknown, allow the divine plan to unfold but you need to be in your best space to receive it. Allow god to work his miracles or her miracles or whatever your faith tells you and trust—trust in yourself, your heart and trust in the universe to work out all the details.

This weekend, let’s begin the gentle process of healing the past through these powerful steps, and begin to let go of what no longer serves us. Feel free to share your experiences and thoughts in the comments below… remember we are all a part of the Sweetspot Community (whether we’ve met each other in person or not), and we are here to create a safe, loving space for all. peace. -davidji

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Source in which we explore various moral codes people live by, including the 10 “commandments” of Osho.

What set of codes do you live by? Maybe it’s the Ten Commandments or the Four Agreements or the Seven Spiritual Laws. Or perhaps you live by the Golden Rule or the Three Gates. We explore all these codes in depth in my Masters of Wisdom & Teacher Training, and there is none that is right or wrong. In fact, we can’t go wrong at all practicing any combination of these moral codes as long as they are all fueled by LOVE.

Osho is one of the most controversial spiritual leaders to have emerged from India. Osho was born Chandra Mohan Jain in 1931. When he turned 30, he went by the name Acharya Rajneesh; in the 70s, he changed his name to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh; and in 1989 to Osho. He died in January of 1990, a month after his 60th birthday.

During his early days as Acharya Rajneesh, a correspondent asked Rajneesh for his “ten commandments.” He noted that it was a difficult matter because he was against any kind of commandment, and any kind of religion, but “just for fun” he presented this list:

  1. Never obey anyone’s command unless it is coming from within you also.
  2. There is no God other than life itself.
  3. Truth is within you, do not search for it elsewhere.
  4. Love is prayer.
  5. To become nothingness is the door to truth. Nothingness itself is the means, the goal and attainment.
  6. Life is now and here.
  7. Live wakefully.
  8. Do not swim—float.
  9. Die each moment so that you can be new each moment.
  10. Do not search. That which is, is. Stop and see.

Many of Osho’s teachings irritated people, and many others found them irreverent. But at the end of the day, his purpose was to challenge us to reach deep within our souls and find our own constrictions. Then, peel away one more layer of this existence.

As much as Osho irritated and offended people, his message of love was the over-riding one that he taught every day when he wasn’t being interviewed or trying to stir up the world’s consciousness. This week, select one of Osho’s “commandments” and see if you can live it, own it, share it, and become it.

Email me at info@davidji.com with the Osho “commandment” that most resonates with you and why. In the meantime, keep meditating and I’ll see you in the gap. peace. -d

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!!!

This weekend let’s return to our most divine, infinite state — stoke the fire of emotional freedom. Allow yourself to surrender to the fire of transformation — let go of what no longer serves you — and invite your true self to shine through. Forgive and love yourself with this meditation. Let’s ignite the emotional fire together, Warriors!

Mantra: Om Agni Moksha

Welcome to this week’s The Source in which we dive into the painful process of, well, healing pain.

Living with, coping with, dealing with & transcending pain is a powerful process of healing. When we get to the other side, we are stronger, braver, clearer, and transformed. As the African spiritual teacher & author Sobonfu Somé said, “If we are going to achieve our purpose in life, we must be willing to fall out of grace and accept its lessons. When we feel righteous about ourselves, or deny our brokenness, we are fighting against the higher states of grace that await us.

[Tweet “When we deny our brokenness we are fighting against the higher states of grace that await us. -Sobonfu Somé @davidji_com “]

Our natural reaction to pain is to shirk from it – to pull back… to run from it, hide from it, or push it away. And we can pretty much do that with everything that comes at us in our life. Yet, if we spend our lives dodging every uncomfortable emotion that bubbles up, we stay in the same constricted place.

If our hope is to live a bold, rich, growth-filled and ever-evolving life, we need to acknowledge & accept the thorns in life just as we celebrate the fragrance and beauty of the rose petals. A gentle start to this process is to sit with your emotions as they arise and let them unfold – to truly feel them!

A rookie mistake for so many Spiritual Warriors on the path to one-ness is the desire to only want to see sunshine & rainbows in every moment – but in the process they deny their growth, they deny their humanity, they deny their potential. The moment we restrict ourselves to only “good news” or only “pleasant” experiences is the moment we stop living.

To understand that in our brokenness and sadness, we embrace our wholeness… and the wholeness of life, is one of the most important lessons we as human beings can learn. If we deny our own pain, how can we truly have compassion for someone else’s?

So this week, let’s make a commitment to receive the blessings of pain & euphoria… of light & darkness… of comfort & discomfort… of sadness & of joy. In this process, we will heal our wounds, celebrate our magnificence, and truly own our wholeness. Let’s keep meditating to awaken our most divine self and let’s keep leaning in the direction of our dreams.

In the meantime, I’ll see you in the gap!!

Peace. -davidji

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!!! Feel the 4 Pillars of Existence merge inside of you… compassion, kindness, gratitude & love.

Leonard Cohen’s song “Anthem” says,

Ring the bells (ring the bells) that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything (there is a crack in everything)
That’s how the light gets in…

This week, allow the divine light of the Universe to come into a small crack in your heart. When we open our hearts wide, we experience the true magnificence of life. Remember, you are so worthy…so deserving to receive the love of the divine creator…the love of the universe…the love of others. Remind yourself throughout the day, “I am worthy. I am whole. I am a product of the divine creator.”

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Source in which we explore how powerful the practice of present moment awareness is in cultivating patience.

The ancient Chinese sage, Lao Tzu is known for this powerful set of teachings, which reinforce the Divine Principle of Awareness:

  • Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?
  • Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?
  • The Master doesn’t seek fulfillment;
but not seeking, not expecting,
is fully present, and can welcome all things.

In my upcoming, new book Sacred Powers, I discuss how patience is a virtue because a person must be able to sustain it in the face of difficulty. You know how challenging it can be to maintain patience when someone is pressuring you; and how difficult it can be to stand in your truth when all around you are pushing you to adopt a contrary belief. [tweet_dis]Patience is a virtue because it needs to be cultivated, nourished, and practiced.[/tweet_dis]

This is where a present moment awareness practice that you can call on throughout the day comes in handy.

The ancient masters of meditation didn’t use apps or spa music to connect them to the present moment. They embraced the Divine Principle of One so purely- building their life around daily present-moment practices – that they were able to effortlessly awaken the Sacred Power of Presence. They infused their whole day into their present moments as opposed to inserting presence into their day.

Buddha did not try to “squeeze” a meditation in between meetings; and the Bible is filled with references to Jesus praying throughout the day as part of his sacred devotion.

Cultivating a daily present-moment practice is much easier than you may think. And, if we can accept the excuses of “no time” or “too busy” for exactly what they are – excuses (and lame ones at that) – then we can begin to integrate presence into our life and create a magnificent fusion of a fully present existence.

At first, “finding the time” to practice presence may feel like a chore; but this is the natural progression we all go through on our journey to stillness. And, the easiest way to connect with the flow more effortlessly, is to practice throughout the day – while your sitting in traffic… standing in a line… sitting in the bathroom… attending a meeting… even taking a shower.

You can start out with an easy technique that requires no equipment – called 16 seconds. I’ve taught it to more than 200,000 people around the world and it’s based on the ancient technique of mindful breathing popularized by the Buddha 2600 years ago.

Start with a long, slow, deep inhale and,
watch your breath slowly move into you through your nose – down deep into your belly;
then hold the breath in and witness it as it sits in your belly for a bit;
then release your breath and observe it as it moves up, through you, and out of your nostrils;
as you continue to exhale, witness your breath as you continue releasing it out, and watching it the whole time as it dissipates into the air.
In. Hold.
Out. Hold.

Witness your breath the whole time as you move through this simple 4-part technique. Each component takes about 4 seconds, with the whole experience lasting 16 seconds. And you can approximate your time by counting along the way, or simply surrender to the process and see where it leads you.

Sixteen seconds is all it takes to practice presence. And you can gently increase your presence practice to a minute by doing it four times; or to 5 minutes by doing it 20 times.

This time-tested process will instantly infuse all of the conversations in your mind with a tiny bit of stillness – a little bit of breathing room, patience, and calm.

peace. -davidji

Happy weekend, Spiritual Warrior!!! Welcome to this week’s guided meditation.

Each day, we SELF-domesticated ourselves as we created agreements in our mind of who we should and shouldn’t be, and what we should and shouldn’t do. And at a certain point that became engrained into every muscle in our body – every fiber of our being – as we lived a life and reinforced it based on others’ opinions and expectations of us.

In this process of domestication it turns out that the choices we make and the life we live is more driven by the opinions we learned from others than if we had grown up in isolation with no one around to tell us what was “acceptable” and what was not.

But if you want to be happier…you need to step into your power and take the reins of your life so you can be the writer, the main character, and the director of your life. And right now – in this moment – you get to turn the page and write the new chapter of your life.

Mantra: Om haam ritam
