When I let go of who I am, I become who I might be. –Lao Tzu

Welcome to the last edition of The Source 2016!!!

Many of the guests at my November retreat in Maya Tulum, participated in a unique experience with me… a Mayan temazqual. It’s essentially a sweat lodge in which we go through a process of letting go of what no longer serves us and make commitments to bring new, nourishing things into our life.

[tweet_dis]Life is all about endings and beginnings, and what we do with them becomes the fabric of our lives.[/tweet_dis] Every choice leads to another. So kooky – but real!!! And now, in the last week of 2016, we can get clear and fuse them together.

Right now in the last few breaths of 2016, you may be dealing with some pretty big issues regarding your intentions, your heart, your career, your money, your health, your family, and your path. Maybe you are even too busy to read this blog. You may be trying to let go or bring closure to something in your life that hurt you, haunts you, troubles you, or simply distracts you.

Now is the time to make decisions – big or little… that will create the fractal for what comes next. And it can be a huge opportunity!!! Right here… right now… we can jump up and make a decision that will free us, move us, shift us away from the same-old same-old.

If you’re ready for that – then let’s take that step together! Let’s make a choice right now that will set us on a new path for the next 12 months. If we have the courage right now… to take that step, we can build on that in choosing a life filled with clarity, purpose, and deeper fulfillment.

This doesn’t mean everything will unfold the way we envision. But we do have total control of how we want to show up and respond to each circumstance, situation, roadblock, speed bump, and gift that the universe serves up. We have the power to break free from our conditioned way of thinking and doing or we can keep thinking the same way, reacting in the same way, and driving in the same direction. We get to choose our journey – and we get to choose how we transform.

Join me in the Sweetspot of the Universe in April to go deep into tips, tools, and techniques to take that next step… be bold and brave… and Manifest Your Dream Life!!

Share this holiday blessing with your friends!

Good tidings spiritual warrior!!

Do you know how beautiful you are?
I think not my dear…

But I can feel your courage right here in the sweetspot as you step into your power thousands of miles away
I can hear your mighty voice expressing your tender heart with divine whispers that ripple into every soul along the way
I know the pain you cradle just beneath the surface
And the sweet, salty tears you hide in the corners of your eyes
Waiting to be released

Let’s hold each others hands
Gaze into each others eyes
And each of us own the sadness we’ve inspired
Apologize to each other for the hearts we’ve broken
Wrong words we’ve spoken
The mindless fights – the Silent nights
The wasted time when time’s so short
The cold shoulders, tongues held, lips bitten, teeth clenched
for nothing that ever really mattered then or ever… really
Forgive each other right now

I say, “I’m…”
You say, “sorry”
I say, “I…”
You say, “love you”

Here we are in this sacred, precious, present moment
What else is there to do but
Kiss & makeup
Surrender & love

And commit to making better choices
Pledge to making Higher choices
More loving choices…

Let’s open our hearts to LOVE
Drop your guard
And let love in
Let kindness in
Let compassion in
Let forgiveness in
Let one person into your heart
Who you have been blocking all this time
Spending all that energy resisting
When you could be loving just a bit more

Let one person in
Who you’ve tried to teach a lesson to…
Let them in…
Let them learn the lesson of love and forgiveness
Instead of you being right

Let one person in
Who’s done you wrong
See how wide
Your understanding of the divine truly is
There’s room in your heart for your own reflection

Let one person in
Who’s been knocking for ages
Trying so hard
To turn your head
Let them into their own heart
Through the doorway to yours

Let’s open our hearts to LOVE
Drop your guard
And let love in
Let kindness in
Let compassion in
Let forgiveness in

I’ll let you in mine.
Will you
Let me in yours?
I’ll love you unconditionally
I’ll forgive you unconditionally
Let me shower you with sweet metta

In case you need a reminder of the power of your ripple
Listen to my heart whispering your magnificence
In the sweetness of the breeze
Feel my gratitude rain down upon you in every snowflake that visits your neighborhood

Are you willing to trust
That the universe will deliver you to exactly where you need to be?
Are you ready to trust
That your heart never lies
Are you ready to raise yourself up
Let the universe kiss your soul
Are you open to love again and be free?

Then celebrate love today
With me
Right now today
With me
Let’s merge our hearts right now
The best is yet to come.

Peace & love

Hello Spiritual Warriors, and welcome to this week’s edition of The Source in which we explore the idea of invoking archetypes and how they can help us on our journey to be the best version of ourselves.

It’s often said that [tweet_dis]we are not human beings having the occasional spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having this unique human experience[/tweet_dis]. If we can envision an archetype of us that is growing, trying to be better, learning from our missteps. . . a personification that is successful, happy, empowered,  compassionate, whole, pure, and peaceful . . . an embodiment of ourselves that spontaneously says and does the perfect thing at the perfect moment . . . that’s our spiritual self.

Spirituality is simply the journey we each take from our current version of ourselves to our most divine version—our most self- actualized version—where we touch perfection, glimpse clarity, bask in brilliance, and receive deep insights. But it’s not a one-way voyage—it’s a round-trip experience; we get to integrate the best version of ourselves back into our day-to-day life and incorporate these transformational life lessons into our thoughts, words, and actions.

With this guided meditation, you get to awaken the sleeping god or goddess that rests within. This is where you get to invoke your divine archetype to help you become your best version!!

That’s where archetypes come in. When you are just about to leap into change, a new relationship, or a new job, for example, sometimes we can feel like we don’t have the energy or confidence or courage to go the distance. Sometimes it’s a little voice in our head telling us we can’t do it; sometimes it’s a person in our life shaking their head or smirking; and sometimes it’s the circumstances that seem so daunting, over-whelming, or over-powering. When we realize that we don’t have what it takes in the critical moment – that’s when can begin awakening archetypes!

Archetypes are states of information, energy and awareness that rest sleeping inside us. By awakening archetypes, we summon the power to find our next gear. Archetypes exist in the collective domain of the unmanifest and are available to each of us at any time. They exist as a god or goddess in embryo waiting to be born. And they can take the form or shape of whatever it is we are trying to summon.

We are awakening archetypes when we simply plant the seeds of our intentions & desires. If we do it on a regular basis, we get more skilled at it and the archetypal energies we summon start flowing to us more consistently.

So this week, make your list of your top ten archetypes for moving you through your life, and send me an email at info@davidji.com.

Keep meditating, and I’ll see you in the GAP!!!

Peace. -davidji

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Source in which we discuss mantras.

The traditional image of a meditator is someone sitting cross-legged with eyes closed and their hands resting on their knees, with thumbs and index fingers touching to form a circle as they chant the sound Om. That chanting of Om is what’s called the chanting of a mantra.

The word “mantra” comes from two Sanskrit words: man, which means “mind,” and tra, which means “vehicle” or “instrument.” So your mantra is your mind vehicle . . . your mind instrument. It is a tool to transport the mind from a state of activity to one of stillness and silence. We get the words “train,” “travel,” and “transportation” from the Sanskrit root tra.

Most mantras are comprised of the 50 letters of the Sanskrit alphabet. Mantras can consist of a single letter, a syllable or string of syllables, a word, or a whole sentence. Typically, most mantras are sounds, syllables, or vibrations that don’t necessarily have a meaning. Their value lies in their vibrational quality, not in any meaning that humans, society, culture, or civilization has placed on them over the last few thousand years. For this reason, they go beyond the state of human existence on this planet. And they take you deeper, because they are vibrations that have existed since the dawn of creation.

At my upcoming Manifesting Your Dream Life! weekend workshops in March and April, all guests receive their personal mantras in a special ceremony. But if you don’t have a personal mantra, using the “hymn of the universe” works just fine.

Om, often referred to as the hymn of the universe, is the oldest mantra sacred to Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. Om is considered the ultimate vibration, because it contains every vibration that has ever existed and every vibration that will ever exist. Just as white light contains all the colors of the spectrum, Om contains every sound in the vibrational spectrum—even those we can’t hear with our ears.

My davidji t-shirts feature the Sanskrit symbol for the vibration Om. The large curve on the lower left represents the material world of the waking state; the smaller curve on the upper-left represents the state of deep sleep. The curve on the right that extends to the right from the intersection of the two left curves represents the dream state—that tender line between waking and sleeping. The dot at the very top is akin to the dot (or bindu) in the center of the sri yantra and represents the universe in all its abundance. This state is often referred to as turiya (pronounced tour-yah) a Sanskrit word for “absolute consciousness,” “the universe,” or “one-ness.” And the curved line under the bindu represents maya, the illusion of existence that separates our bodymind from one-ness and must be transcended for us to return to the whole. Ommmmm!

When you notice that you have drifted away from the mantra to thoughts in your mind, sounds in the environment, or sensations in your physical body, simply gently drift back to the mantra. It might get louder or fainter, faster or slower; it might even become jumbled, distorted, and inaudible. However the mantra changes, simply keep repeating it, and when you notice you’ve drifted away just gently drift back. Back and forth and back and forth again. Gently surrender to the back and forth.

Excuses, excuses! We have a million of them; a million reasons why we haven’t started that project, why we haven’t made that commitment, why we’re waiting for the right moment. We stall our dreams waiting for the perfect moment… but what is perfection, really?

Perfection is progress. Perfection is evolution! [tweet_dis]Perfection is us embracing the wholeness of life.[/tweet_dis] Many of us carry a heavy burden to be perfect in all aspects of our lives; to always do the right thing, make the right choice, use the right words, move in the right direction. But, perfection really isn’t the ultimate goal. Sometimes when we focus too much on the end result, we lose sight of the magnificent process of growth… of progress… continually moving in the direction of our goals while staying mindful of the steps we’re taking to get there.

Feeling stuck? Trying to move through change? Download my Getting Unstuck guided meditation to your personal library by clicking here.

Our lives are full of ups and downs, happiness and sadness, fear and courage. This process of back and forth, not just mindlessly living it but actually embracing it, IS PERFECTION! But it can be overwhelming, however, to embrace life when you’re struggling. That’s when you lean on your meditation practice to get you through, give you clarity, and help you move through difficult times with greater ease and grace.

I have created an arsenal of FREE meditations to help guide you through change, fear, overwhelm, despair, feeling stuck, and so much more. There are no more excuses! You can have a new meditation delivered to your inbox every week by joining the Sweetspot Community here.

So, this week let’s embrace the good with the bad and focus on progress, evolution and leaning in the direction of our dreams!!! In the meantime, I’ll see you in the gap.

Namaste. -davidji

Studying the Process of Progress Toward Perfection

If you’d like to dive deeper into studying the process of progress toward perfection (in the sense of becoming the best version of yourself possible), the Six Perfections of Buddhism is just one of the many ancient teachings we study intensively in my Masters of Wisdom & Meditation Teacher Training. They are:

Perfection of Generosity

Generosity is a true generosity of spirit, giving from sincere desire to benefit others, without expectation of reward or recognition. There must be no selfishness attached. Even charity work done to “feel good about myself” is not true generosity.

Perfection of Morality

Buddhist morality is not about unquestioning obedience to a list of rules. Yes, there are precepts, but the precepts are something like training wheels. They guide us until we find our own balance and develop selfless compassion. Along the way we practice renunciation and gain an appreciation for karma.

Perfection of Patience

The Buddhist word ksanti is patience, tolerance, forbearance, endurance, or composure. It literally means “able to withstand.” It is said there are three dimensions to ksanti: the ability to endure personal hardship; patience with others; and acceptance of truth.
The perfection of ksanti begins with acceptance of the Four Noble Truths.

Perfection of Energy

Perfection of energy is about making a courageous, heroic effort to realize enlightenment. To practice this, we first develop our own character and courage. We engage in spiritual training. And then we dedicate our fearless efforts to the benefit of others.

Dhyana (meditation – the 7th limb of yoga according to Patanjali) is a discipline intended to cultivate the mind. Dhyana also means a deeper awareness of oneness, which is inclusive of perception of body, mind, senses and surroundings, yet remaining unidentified with it.

Perfection of Wisdom

Wisdom is the direct and intimate realization emptiness, and that all phenomena are without self-essence. This wisdom cannot be understood by intellect alone. So how do we understand it? Through the practice of the other perfections — generosity, morality, patience, energy, and meditation.

These profound virtues, that when studied and used to cultivate the best versions of ourselves, can help us make a powerful shift in our lives for the better. If you’d like to learn more about the Six Perfections and other ancient, timeless teachings consider joining my next teacher training. You can read about the program HERE, or you can email my teacher liaison, Nancy, at nancy [at] davidji [dot] com with any questions about the curriculum.

Online classes being June 2017.

Mantra: Om ganapataye namaha

Today is the seventh day of my retreat in Maya Tulum with 40 spiritual warriors going deep into the Five Realms of Existence and exploring the fifth Pancha Mahabhuta, prithvi, or earth. This master element represents the hard parts of our world; if you can see it, that’s what earth is about. Essence, grounding, hard, real, tangible things. Structure is created by prithvi. It is a powerful element that when we have too much flowing through us, we become too attached to something, too comfortable, and ultimately needy. We hold on, unnecessarily, to something that no longer serves us.

For this weekend’s meditation, I’ve chosen Day 10 of my “40 Days of Transformation.” The 40 Days is available in its entirety on iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play, and CDBaby.com.

The Five Master Elements are a highlight of my Ayurvedic opera, “Journey to Infinity.”
