Hello Spiritual Warriors & welcome to this edition of The Source.

This week, we explore the rhythm of life through the Blue Moon. There are so many different rhythms to our current life – tidal rhythms, lunar rhythms, the rhythms of the seasons, the daily circadian rhythms of night and day, of light and darkness, the rising & setting of the sun. Right down to the rhythm of our breath… of our heartbeat.

[Tweet “now is the moment the universe is inviting you to get in rhythm davidji.com”]

Through the seasons, the tides, the sun, and the moon, we are guided through our journey on earth. Think of the moon, and its rhythms of expansion, contraction, and total space – the rhythm of its growth until it’s full, whole, expansive, and then that very very gentle surrendering to diminishment as the sun’s light on the moon gets smaller and smaller – until it no longer reflects the light of the star at the center of our own solar system.

The Power of the New Moon

They call it the New Moon, when there is no moon. That’s the stillness and the silence that rests between the expansion and the contraction. No different than that subtle sweet silent moment that rests beneath your breaths, the inhale and the exhale. We are in rhythm with the cosmos with each breath that we take and the Sanskrit word for this rhythm is Ritam, (pronounced rih-taam).

Ritam essentially means I’m alert. I’m awake to the rhythms of life. I dance with the cosmic dance. I flow with the cosmic rhythms. Imagine that each pulse, each breath the universe takes is expressed through you. Imagine that each physical step that you take is flowing with the step the universe is taking as well. Imagine that your personal, physical rhythms of ingestion, digestion, elimination, equilibrium, homeostasis, are all in sweet balance. Imagine that your body is an orchestra with millions of instruments being played out whether those are your most healing cells, your most expansive cells, your lungs, your kidneys, your blood, your bones, your brain, your heart… Imagine that you flow in the harmony of the universe.

The Power of the Full Moon

And then there is the full moon, that one moment each month where the entire moon is filled with the light from the sun. The star that powers our entire solar system is showering the moon with all its splendor and magnificence. After 30 days, the darkness of the new moon and all its various phases leads up to this crescendo of manifestation – the full moon. This is where – if we are aligned – all of our dreams and desires can unfold!!!

But something really out of the ordinary is about to occur.

This Friday on July 31st we will celebrate the second full moon in the same month, and when that rarity occurs (the next one isn’t until 2018!), it’s known as a Blue Moon. We began the month with a Full Moon on July 1st and now we close the month with a Blue Moon.

These full moons are bracketing all the life lessons we’ve absorbed over these past 30 days. In another kooky cosmic event, seven planets in our solar system (that’s right SEVEN!!!) will begin to slow down as they round the bend circling the sun. So the moon is full twice AND the planets are slowing down.

Remember you were just asking for a sign from the universe? HELLO!!!!!!! This is it!!! Look no more. It’s time to act. It’s time to take the step. The universe is temporarily slowing down, like a merry go round slowing so you can hop aboard! So get on board!! If you’ve been procrastinating, lollygagging, making excuses, putting off the big decision, delaying the inevitable – NOW IS THE MOMENT THE UNIVERSE IS INVITING YOU TO GET IN RHTHYM – and it’s doing it lovingly and gently.

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! That once in a blue moon moment!!!

TulumAD_display3_150512All the pain, confusion, disappointment, overwhelm, stagnation, grievances, and sadness of the past 7 months have been leading up to this one week – it’s finally ready to pop! It’s the time for you to take that small step into that BIG decision.

So let’s dig deep… awaken our passion… muster up our courage… lean in the direction of our dream… make a commitment & step into the unknown at the invitation of the universe… and live the life we are worthy of… the life we were destined to live. Let’s allow this week to be that turning point moment in our life!! Let’s choose BIG! Let’s move beyond fear! Let’s choose ourselves!!

Aham brahmasmi baby! And I’ll see you in the gap! Peace. -davidji

Yata Pinde Tat Brahmande: as is the cosmic body, so is the personal body; as is the cosmic mind, so is the personal mind.

At our core rests the stillness and silence that connects us to the divine. This inherant wisdom flowing through us should allow us to own our impact in every moment. But sometimes we get confused and overwhelmed because we don’t recognize our divinity. Owning our impact is an empowering, liberating, and inspiring way to add self-awareness into our daily equations. Facing your life head-on and acknowledging all of the amazing things that your ripple sends out, creates a keen sense of validation to our choices and contributions to the world.

Hello Spiritual Warriors! And welcome to this week’s edition of The Source.

Several years ago, I was contemplating making a big move in my life. I didn’t really like my circumstances… I didn’t feel surrounded by supportive people… and I found myself whining & complaining to all those who were supportive. I was hosting one of the biggest pity parties on the planet!

Two conversations changed everything for me. First, I went to visit my cousin, and after telling her all the reasons OUTSIDE of me that I couldn’t take my next step, she giggled, looked me squarely in the eyes, and replied, “You’re not owning your impact!”

[Tweet “If it’s to be, it’s up to me! davidji.com”]

I froze. I let the words vibrate in the air and then it dawned on me… I was NOT owning my impact. I wasn’t taking responsibility for my life. I had made a list of all the challenges, limits, people, policies, excuses & reasons for where I was in my life and I was using those excuses to stay stuck where I was… in the land of grievances. Those five words hit me like a ton of bricks. Instead of taking the powerful step to OWN MY LIFE, I had given others the power.

I was waiting for them to change… for them to shift… so I could move to the next level. But I hadn’t realized that in that process, I had given away my power. I was blind to the fact that I am the director, producer, lead character, and author of my life. In every moment… I get to choose. But, if I wait for others to “get on-board”, for others to agree with me, for others to champion me BEFORE I am championing myself – then I am indeed powerless.

I made that commitment in that moment that I would forever OWN MY IMPACT – that I would take responsibility for every thought, word & action that I flow. That I would not blame other people, politics, religion, history, technology for my accomplishments or my lack of them. It was a mind-blowing revelation.

If it’s to be, it’s up to me!

My second aha! moment was a few days later while I was talking to my bestie Jodi Komitor – the founder of the first Kids Yoga Studio in the world & the creator of NextGenerationYoga.com. Jodi has always boldly put herself out there, lived a heart-based life, and truly set the bar for teaching Kids & certifying Kids Yoga Teachers. Our 15-year friendship is one of the joys of my life – but she became a powerful catalyst in my life on this one day. After telling her that I had decided to FINALLY own my impact, she replied, “On what date will you take your bold action?”

This crystalized everything for me. I walked over to my calendar…pulled out a Sharpee and in bold blue indelible magic marker, I circled a date & wrote down the words, “Today I own my impact.” And it was on that date – carved in stone – that I made one of the most important decisions in my life. And I haven’t looked back since!!!

Forward thinking organizations like the global lifestyle company lululemon athletica, teach their employees to always ask “by when?” during the goal-setting process. This keeps it real and gives you a target to shoot for. When you put a date on a goal, it weaves all the moving pieces into a more cohesive thread – so all the people, processes, resources, and energy gets fused into one powerful outcome.

So right now… TODAY… in this moment, ask yourself, “Am I owning my impact?” & “On what date, will I take my bold action?”

DeStressify_DisplayJULYv8aThat internal dialog will fuel you to greater expansion, true abundance, powerful transformation, & deeper fulfillment. Owning Your Impact is one of the core teachings of destressifying. Take that step today. I promise you will not be disappointed.

In the meantime, keep meditating… and I’ll see you in the gap! Peace. -davidji

May the wisdom and compassion of all beings increase, now and in the future.
May we clearly see all the barriers we erect between ourselves and others to be as insubstantial as our dreams.
May we appreciate the great perfection of all phenomena.
May we continue to open our hearts and minds, in order to work ceaselessly for the benefit of all beings.
May we go to the places that scare us.
May we lead the life of a warrior.”

Hello Spiritual Warriors & Welcome to the halfway point of 2015!

Sometimes we’re pretty clear on what we want but we don’t know how to start the process. It seems that there’s so much else to do or think about, that our best intentions get lost in the swirl of our day-to-day. Our mind can be a tsunami of routines, rituals, regular activities, conditioned behaviors, commitments, intentions, and desires. Couple that with all the unknown, un-planned, and unexpected uncertainties that unfold with every text, email, phone call, conversation and action and … before you know it… you’ve lost track of that dream you were going to manifest.

When we procrastinate on taking our first step, it’s not solely an issue of time management – it’s more often an issue of CLARITY.

Lost in the Swirl

We get to choose what fills each moment of the day. The main problem is that we hit the ground running with our daily list of priorities, we try to get done what is in our awareness, and as new situations unfold, they become the new priority. So almost before we begin, we’re behind – then all the unknown stuff appears, which can appear staggering because we can’t catch our breath as more & more stuff keeps revealing itself.

Here’s how we get clear. There’s a simple way to calm the storm and move forward from a space of clarity. It’s called the Transformation TWO-STEP! And it works like this…

Step 1

You need to meditate – that’s spending time with yourself in stillness and silence. No TV, no soothing music – just you and the stillness and silence that rests within. I have recorded more than 500 guided meditations that have touched millions around the world, and I believe they are powerful tools for working through challenges such as emotional pain, overcoming fear, feeling stuck, and coping with change. They are also the perfect first step for keeping your meditation practice on track because each meditation offers you some quiet time to incubate your vision.

[Tweet “Your personal silent practice is your only opportunity for stillness in the swirl of life davidji.com”]

The Importance of Silence

Your personal silent practice is your only opportunity for stillness in the wild swirl of day-to-day activity. So even starting with five minutes a day of silent meditation can make a profound shift. That is why the weekend meditations I create each week for members of the SweetSpot Meditation Community include both a guided portion with background music followed by a session of silence – so you can really connect to the stillness that rests within.

Once we are locking in at least a few minutes of meditation each day, it’s time for STEP TWO of the Transformation TWO-STEP.

Step 2

Step 2 has three powerful practical applications and this is where the magic unfolds as we use our knowledge of the five realms that we’ve been practicing together here in the SweetSpot Community.

  • First, review your daily activities through the lens of the 5 realms to see where we are actually spending our time.
  • Then, identify what we’d like to see unfold in each of the five realms of our life – the physical, emotional, material, relationship, & spiritual.
  • Lastly, select one daily activity you are currently living in each of the five realms and replace it on the list with one that aligns with your new goal.

This small shift in each of the five areas of your life will jumpstart a powerful transformation – an evolution in the core areas of your life. You’ll feel the new trajectory unfolding within a day!

Here’s how to start. Since the beginning of the year, I’ve encouraged all the members of the davidji SweetSpot Meditation Community to explore the 5 realms of our real-world existence – the physical, emotional, material, relationship, and spiritual aspects of our being. If you want to know who you really are, go to the 5 realms and write down the actions you are undertaking each day in each realm. Once you’ve completed writing your list…drink it in…THIS IS YOUR LIFE. In fact, let’s call it the MY LIFE list.

DeStressify_DisplayJULYv8a

I’ve actually crafted this process into a course called destressifying with davidji. And I encourage you to join me this September in this life-transforming process– there are 3 spots remaining.

Next, on a separate piece of paper, write down your desires in each realm. Actually ask yourself, what do I want in the physical realm of my life? The answers will flow. Don’t filter or judge. Is it a new hairstyle? Smaller love handles? A brow lift? Greater stamina? Brighter eyes? More restful sleep? Just write. And do this for the other four realms – there are no wrong answers. When you get stuck, ask: “What do I want in the realm of…?” and simply write what flows into you.

Once that list of dreams, desires, and goals has been moved from the ether of your mind to the tangible reality of ink on paper, the fun begins. This DREAM list will serve many purposes: look at it every day before you meditate; read it every night before you go to sleep; and carry it with you wherever you go so you can update it, check off your accomplished goals, and cross out the kooky stuff that no longer applies.

For years, I’ve accessed the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu who most historians claim never even existed! One quote from this unknown sage that never fails to inspire me is, “When I let go of who I am, I become who I might be?” But letting go isn’t so easy without a process. And that’s what the final step of the Transformation TWO-STEP is all about.

Simply select one goal from the physical realm on your DREAM list and place it on the MY LIFE list. Do this with the other four realms as well. And then – here’s where the excitement happens – remove one of the five actions on you’re MY LIFE list. Remember you are not adding to the list; you are replacing a stale item with a new item…essentially shifting from where you are to where you’d like to be which will flow into who you are to who you want to be.

If you look at the 25 items each day on your new MY LIFE list and use those as your priorities for how you think, speak, act, and respond to life, your attention will follow your new trajectory and your life will blossom and bloom. But without a daily meditation practice, it’s really hard work. By spending just a little time each day in stillness and silence, life will unfold with grace and ease and your stress, overwhelm, and feeling that there isn’t enough time will vanish with each meditation. Additionally, your sleep will become more restful and restorative as your creativity, productivity, intuition, memory, performance, and clarity increase and thrive.

Do you have time for that? The clock is ticking…so let’s get busy!!! And I’ll see you I the gap! Peace. -davidji

Surrender to the power of our own healing: the power of the word, the power of our thoughts, of the meaning we’ve given to things, the power they have over us and the power we have over them.

We are the masters of each moment. We can shift the direction of energy moving through us, release our grip of attachment. We can reach for new expressions to hold onto, and we can open our hearts to soothing and let go of darkness. We have the power to heal and to repair.

Hello Spiritual Warrior!!!! And welcome to another edition of The Source!!

As you know, I’ve spent the past year writing a book to help people stress less, find greater clarity, step into their power, and truly achieve peace of mind. I named the book “destressifying” & it comes out August 24th. One of the core teachings of “destressifying” is slowing down your mind, seeing your thoughts in slow motion, and gaining clarity on what you need in a given moment. A powerful tool for making that happen is to look at your life through The 5 Realms of existence.

When we look at our life in its totality, there are some parts that overlap and others that are distinct. We’ve all heard of the concept of work-life balance. But in truth, that separation between work and life is artificial since for many of us our work is our life, others work at home, and for all of us, the behaviors and actions we perform in daily life, spill over into work, home commute, relaxation, meals, the bedroom, etc. A more accurate breakdown is to separate our life into the five truest aspects of our existence:

1. The Physical Realm
2. The Emotional Realm
3. The Material Realm
4. The Relationship Realm, and
5. The Spiritual Realm

[Tweet “Separation between work and life is artificial since for many work is our life. Learn balance davidji.com”]

When we look at our life through the lens of the 5 Realms, it allows us to move back and forth from the big picture to the more granular aspects of our existence. It brings us single-pointed intention so we can make tiny, incremental shifts that have huge impact. And, by focusing our attention on five core areas, clarity naturally flows to all of our answers.

1. The Physical Realm contains your body, diet, health, exercise, sleep, digestion, physical habits, and our body’s flexibility, balance, endurance, and strength.

2. The Emotional Realm contains how we respond to the world – our empathy, conditioning, reactivity, hot buttons, ego; our ability to self-regulate our emotions and reactions to the world around us, temper our highs and lows, cultivate our emotional intelligence, muster our courage, heal our heart, and deconstruct our conditioned knee-jerk responses.

3. The Material Realm is reflected in our understanding of wealth consciousness, the abundance we circulate through the world, and our ability to see ourselves as conduits or channels of material energy – finding new creative solutions to problems. It’s our career, our house, car, possessions, money, and all our stuff.

4. The Relationship Realm is reflected in enhancing the quality of our relationships starting with the relationship we have with our self; winding down those relationships that don’t serve us, and redirecting our attention to those relationships that are nourishing.

5. The Spiritual Realm is reflected in our core values, our intuition, our awareness of something bigger than our self, our acceptance of differing values and beliefs, and our self-actualization, which includes being of service to others. It contains your connection to God, the divine, the universe, and Source. It’s your dharma or purpose in life.

Once we understand these five core aspects of our being, we can start to make powerful shifts in the direction of our life. Once you understand the concept of the five realms, an easy starting point in the process of transformation is to ask:

“What can I let go of that no longer serves me in each of the 5 realms?”

Just pick one thing to let go of. To jumpstart the process, identify the one that is creating the most pain; or determine the one that consumes more of your awareness or energy.

Nature abhor a vacuum. Once you release, a space is created – and whatever thought, word, behavior, or response you conjure – innocently…subtly…effortlessly fills it. So now ask yourself this question:

“What can I add to my life to nourish myself in each of the 5 realms?”

I have practiced this every day for the past 3 years and have manifested amazing dreams while I have shed some very painful aspects of my past life. I encourage you to join me in this journey of destressifying and feel free to email me your transformational shifts!

In the meantime, I’ll see you in the gap!

Peace. -davidji

Energy can be changed, transformed and expressed in other ways — but it can’t be destroyed. There’s probably some emotional turbulance bothering you, something you’re obsessing about, and in essence this energy is mastering us. But we can learn to master it! Release that emotional charge and transform it into emotional healing.
