“We will never have a perfect world, but it’s not romantic or naive to work towards a better one.” ―Steven Pinker

There are natural disasters happening in our world, there are wars raging in our countries, there is unrest in our cities. It may feel like you’re a million miles away from this strife, you may feel like there’s nothing you can possibly do to help.

But you CAN do something. You can LOVE. You can FEEL LOVE. You can GIVE LOVE. We are all connected, and we have the power to elevate each other and the human dynamic — even from afar — by taking small actions each day.

I’ve created this special guided meditation to help you focus on the love that is inside you, and help you radiate that love out to everyone, connecting them to your healing intentions wherever you need them to go.

Stream it, or download it for free. Feel free to share it, and send my intensions for healing each other everywhere.

Throughout the day as you experience sadness, or irritation, or frustration, or outrage for someone who is suffering, take just a few moments to send your healing intentions out to them. You don’t even have to know how to meditate. Just settle in, close your eyes, breath deeply for 4 seconds in, 4 seconds out, 4 seconds in, 4 seconds out, and flow the love.

“I always believe in a better world, forever.” ―Sir Kristian Goldmund Aumann

Hello Spiritual Warriors! Welcome to another week of exploration.

When you close your eyes and ask yourself the question: “who am I?” what comes back to you? Sometimes answers will flow. Sometimes there will be no answers. But most of the time, what flows back is our most prominent role in the moment we ask the question.

If we are solving a problem, we define ourselves as a problem solver; if we are helping someone, we see ourselves as a friend. The self-description often includes our job, our title, what’s on our resume, our relationship to everything and any one in the world. We identify ourselves by our school, our town, our country, our colleagues, our religion, our food choices, what teams we root for, our favorite musical groups, what politics we resonate with, (what politics we don’t resonate with), what authors we read or what actors we like.

We define ourselves by saying internally & externally, I am a… daughter or son, a mother or father, a brother or sister, an aunt or uncle. These orientations to our world help give us an understanding of our relationship to it – and identify it to others.

[Tweet “The perfect time to explore “Who am I?” is when you meditate @davidji_com”]

So the perfect time to begin the exploration of “Who am I?” is when you sit down first thing in the morning to meditate. You can begin your morning meditation practice with any questions or any prayer you feel like starting with. Regardless of what type of meditation style you practice, you can ask

  • “Who am I?”
  • “What am I grateful for?”
  • “Who am I grateful for?”
  • “How can I be more accepting today?”
  • “How can I flow more compassion into the world?”
  • “How can I forgive a bit more today?”
  • “How can I be more patient today?”
 width=
If you’ve ever experienced pain in your belly, tightness in your chest, a throb in the temple, clench in the jaw, closing of your throat, holding in of your breath, and the release of a harsh word, this retreat will help you manage stress every day only to have it inspire, motivate, and fulfill you to be the best version of yourself.

Asking myself these types of sacred questions creates my trajectory for the day. They often then create a san kalpa – a subtle intention that flows through me throughout the day. When you ask these types of questions – let them simmer for a bit inside you, then release them…let go of them…and let the answers flow throughout the rest of the day, amazing ripples begin to flow.

Ask the questions… then live the answers!

By asking these questions, listening to answers or silence, AND THEN LETTING GO OF THEM, we set the table for our daily practice. There is no need to bring the questions or the answers into your mind during the meditation. They are already a part of who you are. And as you expand in consciousness, the cosmic dialogue will continue to expand within you, you will connect with what really rests at your core, and you will activate your true potential.

[Tweet “as consciousness expands you activate your true potential @davidji_com”]

These are the aspects of Self that have been explored for thousands of years and are some of the deepest questions you could ever ask yourself. We do nothing with the information that comes to us during meditation. It’s not during meditation that the value of this process takes form. That’s simply a process for making the soil more fertile. It’s outside of meditation, when the seeds you’ve planted in that soil are growing, that you feel more expanded, more creative, more intuitive, and more insightful.

Reflecting on who you are is a stepping-stone to an effortless daily practice, and is a building block for living an expanded, abundant, compassionate life. Of course, you can begin your practice with any ritual that feels comfortable.

What are the questions that are important to you?

Write them down; explore them before meditating for a solid week, and you will feel them unfold in your life. (Remember: Don’t bring these questions or their answers into your meditation.) After you have asked questions and allowed answers to flow (and sometimes there will be no answers), simply release them. Let them go, and begin your meditation.

You can add emphasis to your letting go of them by physically releasing them. Take a long, slow, deep breath in and then let them go. As you exhale, send them out into the universe. Then begin your practice, using your breath, mantra, or another object of your attention.

In dreams we defy the laws of nature – we can do anything and everything without consequences. But what about the dreams you’ve held on to throughout your life? Are you holding onto a dream that is no longer nurturing? If your vision has derailed and what you once thought you’d have, hasn’t materialized, then it’s time to re-dream… to re-set your course. This is not failure – it’s an opportunity to build a new dream — agni meele purohitam!

Greetings Spiritual Warriors! And welcome to another edition of The Source. This week, we continue the journey of making peace with our past – a process that impacts all of us – because each of us is holding onto some aspect of the past that prevents us from moving forward.

Are you holding onto something from your past that’s standing in the way of deeper fulfillment or peace of mind? This is a very personal conversation, and sometimes we are unable to give ourselves permission to listen to what’s really in our heart. We defend, deny, protect, or come up with an excuse.

Each time we show up together here, or on Hay House Radio, or in meditation, or through practicing present moment awareness – we get one baby step closer to slowly peeling away automatic thoughts that are conditioned reactions to our past.
MovingThroughChange-Event

There are six powerful steps that we can take to help us more easily make peace with the past:

1. Meditate. It all starts with our thoughts – as the Buddha said, “All that we are arises with our thoughts – with our thoughts we create the world.” Meditation is the key. It doesn’t stop thoughts as much as make us aware of them as they come into stillness and silence. This tills the soil of the fertile garden of our heart.

2. Set clear intentions.
Each day have the intention to let go of whatever you are clinging to – just a little bit more. And breathe into it and release it, reminding yourself that it’s a constricted feeling and it doesn’t serve you. When we feel less-than we long for something to fill our emptiness – money, power, sex, winning, being liked on Facebook or followed on Twitter. An easier and more authentic way for you to transcend the illusion of emptiness is to recognize the divine that rests within.
Right now… gently follow your breath in and out as you repeat:
I am precious,
I am special,
I am sacred,
I am light,
I am love,
I am the universe

[Tweet “See the light in everyone in your life – they are here for a reason @davidji_com”]

3. See the divine in others – people you know intimately and people you meet. Every time you meet someone or think about someone perform a mini-Namaste exercise. Gaze into their eyes and silently say: I honor the light in you that is also in me, and I know we are one. See the light in everyone in your life – they are here for a reason. If you reject someone, can’t stand them, or are holding a grudge, see the light in them. Remind yourself that everyone is doing their best from their own level of consciousness. That means you too!

4. Forgive yourself and any role you play in your past.
We all have done things that in the moment or afterwards realized – this was not what I want or wanted to do. The wounds we created, the lies we’ve told big and little, the cheating, and rationalizing on small and great scales, and the massaging of the truth – these are universal traits!!! They happened so they are done, but we must forgive so that we can move on. Find one thing every day to forgive yourself & the other person for. Simply forgive and let it go.

[Tweet “Find one thing every day to forgive yourself & another for. Forgive and let go @davidji_com”]

5.
Commit to making better choices as you move forward. This is core. You must make an agreement with yourself that if you knew then what you know now, you would make a better choice – a higher choice. Life is not a competition for likes on Facebook or how many people smile at you. It’s about how many people you smile at and how much love you put out there – true love, unconditional love. So make a commitment to be better, do better, and make a wiser choice in the next moment.

6. Let go … let god.
Essentially, begin to trust the universe. Embrace uncertainty embrace the unknown, allow the divine plan to unfold but you need to be in your best space to receive it. Allow god to work his miracles or her miracles or whatever your faith tells you and trust—trust in yourself, your heart and trust in the universe to work out all the details.

Follow these six steps today and your life will unfold with greater grace & ease. Keep meditating and be patient … the best is yet to come!!

Join me this week on Hay House & register for one of my upcoming healing immersions — we’re finally coming to the East Coast! Together, we will take our lives to the next level.

peace. -davidji

Everyone gets upset, angry, disappointed, or defeated when life unfolds differently than we anticipated. But how we respond to this non-stop flow of change that sweeps through us each day becomes the fabric of our life!

Change can offer us aha! moments, breakthroughs in stuck thinking, acceleration in the direction of our goals, opening of our heart… and it can also lead us to sadness, depression, resentment, regret, and in extreme cases, even shutting down, paralysis, and withdrawing. The key is to go back to what we can “control” – our thoughts (through meditation); our words (through impeccable & conscious speech); and our actions (through, as the Buddha said, right action…coming from a place of stillness and patience). Change, even if we don’t want it in the moment, can be beneficial.

Change brings us new opportunities to evolve, adapt, and move beyond limiting beliefs. In every change is a lesson. In every change is an opening for something new, letting go of the old, stepping into something fresh, letting go of the stale, being open to the unexpected, stepping beyond limits. Enjoy this weekend’s guided meditation on moving through change.

Hello Spiritual Warriors!!! And welcome to a week of moving through change!

Are you going through some changes? Do you find yourself resisting? Change is the continuous constant in this kooky swirl of life of ours & we all respond differently to it. Some of us are naturally more flexible than others and handle change pretty smoothly – we easily adjust our mindset when situations or circumstances shift.

Change is a natural part of life, and we all face it at one time or another. Most of us are continually adjusting our behaviors, expectations, and personal desires…making small tweaks that reflect our changing needs or interests – some have even become time honored “change” rituals such as family reunions, seasonal cleanses, cleaning out our closets, or going on retreat.

How you respond to change often depends on the results you think it will bring, such as excitement if you think it will bring a positive flow into your life, or sadness if you perceive that something you were used to is gone or will be gone. You may feel excited about change that involves a gain, such as a new baby or a promotion to a new rank. But you may worry about a change that involves a loss, such as divorce or a move to a new department with new people.

Accepting a sudden, unexpected change — like divorce, a diagnosis, a death, being fired, someone you love being hurt, something you are attached to being taken away or shifted, or being transferred– can be the most jarring. You wake up and your world is different, or when tragedy strikes, our lives can shift in the blink of an eye.

That’s because we paint our world with a brush of consistency – even though we know that life is filled with inconsistencies.

This is why I regularly recite the serenity prayer. And whether you believe in god or not, understanding the serenity prayer can make a huge difference in how we receive existence. The prayer goes like this:

Dear (Lord, God, Universe, Higher power, divine creator, or whatever feels right to you):
Grant me the serenity to ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE.
The courage to CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN.
And the wisdom TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

We are all subtle control freaks (some of us not so subtle)! And when we think we have lost control, then fear, anger, anxiety, stress, and disappointment set in. But if we can accept an uncontrollable change for what it is… accept the reality that we do not have full control over what happens in life, then it becomes easier to be graceful when change visits. If we can make small, incremental shifts towards the new scenario, we may suddenly realize that we are thriving.

[Tweet “If you don’t change…you don’t grow!! @davidji_com”]

In every change we are reminded that we are an integrated thread in the universal fabric of existence – ever changing…ever merging. As one door closes – a new one opens. As one chapter ends…a new one begins. And this wild freight train of existence keeps on moving.

We’ve all heard Gandhi’s quote – and maybe even posted it on Facebook or sent it out in emails : “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

This week, let’s use the mantra I AM THE CHANGE! with all that it brings and with all its scariness, uncertainty, loss of control, and transformational power. So rather than resist and point at the change coming at us… Let’s embrace the mantra I AM THE CHANGE, and let’s implement our own changes. Are you ready to step into this new magnificent wave & ride it? Aham brahmasmi baby. We ARE the universe! Keep meditating & I’ll see you in the gap! With all its kooky change.

Peace. –davidji
